Maximus's Story

Meet Maximus! This beautiful boy came to us from the county shelter after being e-listed for behavior. The notes from his previous home said he was destructive and could escape a kennel. We believed that he just needed some patience and a husky-savvy foster to really get to know him. We have found that Maximus is just the absolute sweetest!

After an adjustment period in his foster home, Max started to come out of his shell. His foster describes him as extremely gentle and said he loves to be around people. He enjoys playing with their other dog and feels more comfortable when crated if his canine companion close by. He is indifferent about playing with toys, but loves affection and will come to you for cuddles and to get belly rubs! Max is a very smart boy and has learned commands - including sit and shake. He’s so smart that sometimes he can be a little stubborn, but he responds well to redirection (and treats are a plus)! He had one fight with the other dog over food early on, so his fosters have fed separately since and there have been no more incidents.

Max’s foster has been amazing about establishing boundaries and working on continued training. Max tends to be anxious and needs someone who will work with this. His foster doesn’t leave him out of the kennel when they are not home since they believe he may chew things up from his separation anxiety. He also likes to dig and they do think he would try to dig out of a yard if given the change. Max is just not fond of being left alone, he loves his people so much, so it’s best he goes to a home where he can have a dog friend or a family that is home a lot.

Max is such a loving boy and would make a wonderful addition to any family. Whether he’s relaxing or heading out for a walk, Max is happiest when he’s with his people. He’s great with kids and has a gentle, affectionate nature. He has not been cat-tested. Max is ready to fill your life with unconditional love - please fill out an app to meet him!

https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/
