Maximus's Story

Hi there... I'm Maximus 🐾🖤
I'm a handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd boy, weighing about 64 pounds, with a sharp mind and an even softer heart. I may look strong and confident on the outside, but deep down I'm just a sweet, loyal guy hoping to find my forever family. 🤍
I love people--everyone from kiddos to the elderly--and once I warm up, I'm all in. I can be a little shy at first, but give me a little patience, some kind words, gentle affection, and maybe a few tasty treats... and I'll be your best friend in no time. 🥹
I'm a smart boy (if I do say so myself!) and already know commands like sit, stay, come, leave it, and down. I've got great recall and really enjoy learning, so continuing my training would be a fun bonding experience for us both. 🧠🐕 I walk nicely on a leash and absolutely love going for walks and medium-length hikes. Stuffy toys and balls are some of my favorite things--I'm always up for a little playtime! 🎾
When it comes to other animals, I get along great with female dogs, but I'd prefer to be the only male in the home. I can do okay with cats that are used to dogs, as long as we're introduced slowly and patiently... but if they run, I might be tempted to chase. 🐱I should also mention that cars make me a bit nervous right now. With time, patience, and consistency, I know I can build confidence and learn that rides can be safe (and maybe even fun!). 🚗I do have very early signs of hip dysplasia, but I'm currently doing great with just a hip and joint supplement. As I get older, I may need a little extra care and a more moderate activity level--but for now, I'm happy, active, and ready to enjoy life by your side. 💛I'm fully house trained, crate trained, and I know how to use a doggie door like a pro. I'm truly ready to settle into a loving home where I can be your loyal companion, protector, and best friend.📞 Call 479-394-5682 to learn more about me. I'll be here, waiting patiently for someone to see just how special I really am. 🐾✨
****************
All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
