Max's Story

Max may be small in size, but he has a heart full of quiet devotion just waiting to be shared.

This 12-year-old, tiny toothless Yorkie came to us from the Joplin Humane Society, where senior dogs like him can easily be overlooked in a busy shelter environment. We’re so grateful he’s now safe and settling into the lounge at The Ranch.

Max is timid when first meeting new people — the world can feel a little big when you’re a little guy. But give him a little time and space to explore, and you’ll see his true self blossom. After about an hour of decompressing, he decided the best place to be was right in a lap. And we’re pretty sure that’s exactly where he’d love to stay.

He’s gentle.
He’s quiet.
He’s a cuddler in the making.

Being toothless just means he’ll need soft food — and honestly, it makes his little tongue peeking out even cuter. Max is looking for a calm, loving home where he can move at his own pace, feel safe, and soak up all the lap time he’s missed.

Senior dogs have so much love left to give. He’s a cuddler in the making.
