Max

Meet Max!

This handsome 5-year-old Mastiff-Lab mix is the perfect combination of gentle giant, clever thinker, and loyal companion.

Max is a smart guy with an incredible nose—he loves brain games and puzzle toys! On rainy days, he even invents his own indoor games, rolling his ball back and forth on the floor. He already knows basic commands like sit, shake a paw, and stay, and he’s a total people-pleaser who works hard to show off his manners because he knows good behavior leads to more play time!

Out on walks, carrying his favorite ball makes him super happy, though he will pull a bit more when he has his toy or spots a squirrel. Because of his size and enthusiasm, he would benefit from an owner with previous large dog experience who can provide continued leash training and confident handling. He’s also an eager co-pilot who is always ready to hop in the car for a ride (even if you’re just running back inside for forgotten keys!).

Home Life & Preferences:

Because Max experiences some anxiety, he thrives best in a predictable environment with a consistent daily routine. Max has a bit of a sensitive stomach, so to keep his tummy happy and settled, he does great on a specific diet combining wet Royal Canin Gastrointestinal food with Purina dry food.

Max wants to be the one and only pet in his forever home so he can soak up all your love. He isn't a fan of other dogs—especially larger breeds like German Shepherds—so he'll appreciate a home where he doesn't have to share his space or contend with close doggy neighbors.

After a fun play session, a good walk, and a mental workout, Max is a total snuggle bug at heart—he’s just waiting to find a cozy sofa to curl up on next to his favorite human!

Ideal Home:

Only pet: No cats, dogs, or small animals
An owner with previous large dog experience comfortable with continued leash training
A predictable routine to help ease his anxiety and build confidence
Commitment to his sensitive-stomach diet (wet Royal Canin Gastrointestinal & dry Purina)
A comfy couch, interactive brain games, and plenty of affection!

How to Adopt:

Those interested in giving our Max a new forever home can go online at Animal Adoptions of Flamborough to fill out the dog application to adopt at https://anadoptflam.com/dogs/

Please note: Dogs do not stay at our shelter location, so appointments need to be made in advance for meet and greets.
