MAX!!'s Story

MAX – Max is a one ish year old gsd. He is possibly part Anatolian since he is really REALLY tall at his young age. We have found Max to be a complete goofball. He lumbers around the yard and absolutely loves all dogs. After he knows you enough to trust you he actually listens to direction, especially with treats involved. Once he does knokw you he is completely loyal. His favorite activity is pro wrestling in his yard with his big friends – or little ones. And he wants to do the same in the house but has learned not to do so. He spends a fair amount of time lounging in the house. He is a little bow legged and has the stride of a duck. He mistakes fingers for pup-peronis at times, but is learning to cool it. He has what we call helicopter ears. And a tongue that hangs sideways pretty constantly. He knows a fair number of commands, including sit, down and paw – which he will use to smack you for a treat. He knows he is a great dog. He is willing to give you the chance to figure it out. He is also very much a shepherd and will protect you, including from all forces outside of the bathroom while he lays inside during your shower time. It is a very serious job.<br/>Max needs training and an understanding of the world for you to help him make the right decisions. Because he is the big boy he has the big attitude but learns so well and is a great boy. All of his current buddies are the same or bigger and he takes direction pretty well. As is true of most big guys, he is a little afraid of females. He backs off when they tell him to do so. His dog interactions are very good and to expel some energy we are hoping he goes to a family with at least one other dog. He is neutered, up to date on shots, appears to be house trained and is crate trained. If you are interested in adopting, please email gabrielsgsdrescue@gmail.com for an application.
