What is Adirondack Save-A-Stray’s adoption process?

You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt. In some cases, proof of age may be required. You must have a valid ID showing your name and present address. Valid identification consists of a current driver's license, major credit, passport or current utility bill. If you are married and not accompanied by your spouse Adirondack Save A Stray must be able to speak with the husband or wife. If the potential adopter is living with a roommate, the roommate must be contacted. If living with their parents, approval must be provided by them (even if of age). Prior approval is needed for renters. No Gift Adoptions!!! The person who will be responsible for the pet must be present at the time of adoption in order to sign the adoption agreement.
