Max's Story
*Max was adopted out a few months ago & sadly just got returned. His "family" had a special needs child & another dog in the home, and called us out of the blue sounding overwhelmed with Max. They had loaded him up into the car & were driving around, possibly considering dumping him, before finally calling to bring him back to the rescue. We are relieved he is back in our care but this has definitely taken a toll on the poor dog!! He's very unhappy to be back in his kennel & we are praying this boy can find a home quickly with someone willing to give real time, love, and connection to him!*

Meet Max - he is 1 of 2 pups left from a litter of 5 that were found abandoned at roughly 10days old (eyes just opening) on January 5th 2025. That makes his estimated birth date right around Christmas Day! His other siblings have all found forever homes. Their mama still awaits adoption too. How can this sweet puppy still be homeless??

Breed is unknown but we have some indicators for a guess. Mama looks to be a chocolate colored small/medium mix. She's got 1/2 of a blue eye so possibly aussie, heeler, or husky genes in her. 40-45lbs short medium body size. And she has the reverse stripe "cowlick" which may indicate Thai ridgeback or Doberman! Very interesting for sure. Pups do not show a stripe but we know the gene is there because of mom. We have no way to know who dad is, but there are a few stray dogs in the area that lead us to believe bully mix. The puppies seem to be large compared to their mama so we believe that dad was a 60-70lb dog, maybe pit, bully, rottweiler, hound, or a combination.

All of the pups were raised in a loving nurturing environment. They get along great with other dogs & people! Have not been exposed to cats or small children but they have a very playful puppy energy & would likely do best with equally matched energy or slow, proper introductions. They have almost completely potty trained, but rescue environment with several dogs isn’t exactly ideal for individual training needs (not everybody can be first to go outside as soon as someone comes in the door!). Max was doing really well before but he has reverted to inconsistent pottying since being returned. Consistent potty breaks in a new home should have Max very quickly getting the hang of things again. He has been kept up to date with vaccines, dewormer, hw prevention, and is now neutered! Adoption fee is $75 to help cover care expenses & ensure a good committed home.
