Max's Story

**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Max is a 26lb, 2-year-old Mini Goldendoodle up for adoption from Homeward Bound Dog Rescue of New York. He was purchased as a puppy by a well-meaning elderly couple but they both got sick in quick succession and could no longer care for him. Max is kind of a blank slate—he is super friendly but hasn’t had a lot of exposure to the world since they didn’t take him anywhere. He knows “sit” but that’s about it! He’s getting the hang of leash walking but may need a harness until he can master loose-leash walking. He is crate-trained and sleeps through the night from 10pm-6am.

Max has never really been around dogs before—he’s fine with the foster dogs in his home but they’re calm, seasoned, and ignore him. Reactive or hyper dogs may not be so forgiving—so Max should be an “only dog” or in a home where folks know what they’re doing in terms of socializing him with other dogs. He hasn’t ever had a backyard to run around in so we’d love for this guy to have a big fenced yard.

Max is crate-trained and seems to be housebroken so far. He LOVES getting pets—especially on his back, his sides, and his chest. He will stand for a half hour next to you if you’ll just scratch his back! He also has the softest fur and doesn’t shed. He will need grooming every 6-8 weeks so new owners should keep this in mind.

If you’re looking for a medium-sized doodle and don’t mind getting this guy all up to speed with the world around him, apply online for Max today!

www.homewardbounddogrescue.com

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
