Mavis's Story

This rather bedraggled-looking Aussie/Shepherd mix is Mavis. As you can see, Mavis loves the beach and in particular the water at the beach. But when she's dried off and salt- and sand-free, Mavis is a gorgeous girl, fluffy and soft, with a flowing fur coat, kind of like the Farrah Fawcett look back when.

Mavis, besides being drop-dead beautiful, is loving and intelligent. She's got some energy and prefers running to walking. She does walk obediently on leash so you don't have to worry about her pulling you hither and yon. Mavis would be a fabulous hiking companion. She loves to explore the woods or tall grasses on the beach dunes, but she has a great recall so you won't lose her. Mavis gets long beach runs/walks daily with her foster Mom and beach dog friends. We hope to find her a home where she will continue to get a lot of daily physical activity to help her be her best doggy self.

Mavis also likes to play hard with other dogs, chasing and wrestling and keeping the ball away from whoever wants it. She really loves all people and has no shyness around strangers or other dogs. Car rides are a non-event for Mavis, she just sleeps quietly through them. Mavis is a perfect house dog too, quiet and calm. She saves all her shenanigans for her daily walks.

Mavis is about 3-years old. She's spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready for her new home. Mavis is being fostered on the northern Oregon coast near Astoria.

If you are interested in adopting Mavis, please fill out the application on our website at: https://www.westernaustralianshepherdrescue.com/adoption-application.html.

We schedule meet n greets after a completed application which includes a home visit and reference checks.
