Maverick's Story

Maverick is a striking two-year-old staffordshire terrier mix with icy blue eyes. Maverick came to us from a truly unfortunate situation: he had been stabbed in the back by an older child, forcing the family to surrender him to a shelter for his own safety. Despite the trauma, Maverick harbors no resentment. He has made a full recovery and loves everyone! Mavvie is a lean, athletic boy with a prominent soft, lazy side. Maverick loves car rides, walks, playtime with friends, and especially chew toys. Maverick is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to find his forever home! Maverick loves other dogs, but would also be happy as an only dog. He is deaf and knows several signs. Maverick is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. He does well with children, but would probably thrive most in a home without small children due to toys being strewn about. We have a feeling he'd think kids' toys and chew toys are one in the same!

All of our adoptions are foster-to-adopt, giving adopters the opportunity to have a trial period. We firmly believe that it is impossible to know if a pet will be a good fit for your home based on a brief encounter. A trial period allows you to see the pet in your home as they decompress and find comfort, and introduce them to different situations and settings that are important in your life. Prior to finalizing adoption, we ask that the pet be seen by your vet so that your trusted veterinary team can assess the animal's health, note vaccination records, and prescribe 6-12 months of heartworm prevention (for dogs).
