Three weeks ago, Maverick was found behind Magnolias in Eutawville with his brother. He was lethargic, severely dehydrated, covered in fleas and bug bites, dangerously anemic from hookworms, and fighting just to survive. After plenty of veterinary care, medications, good nutrition, and loving foster care, he's made an amazing recovery.<br/><br/>Now this chunky little guy is healthy, happy, and ready for a family of his own!<br/><br/>At about 8.5 pounds, Maverick is built like the cutest little potato you've ever seen. But what really makes him special is his gentle heart. When he first came into rescue, it was obvious he'd never experienced kind human touch, and it took him a little while to believe people could be trusted. These days, he happily follows his foster mom from room to room, quietly supervising whatever she's doing. He's a little more independent than his brother, but he's just as sweet and loves other dogs and cats.<br/><br/>Maverick is now about 9 weeks old. While we can't be certain of his breed mix, we're pretty confident there's some Staffordshire Terrier in there.
