Meet Maurice aka Mo! **Fostered in Mobile AL** ***FENCE REQUIRED*** Some people call me the space cowboy. Some people call me the gangster of love. But you can call me Maurice ('cause I speak of the pompitous(?) of love)! In addition to being the gangster of love, I'm an approximately 4 year-old playful, loving, and silly boy. I was found roaming on a very busy street in southwest Mobile scared, covered in fleas, and very hungry. Some really nice folks banded together to try to help me and, after a suitable romp between the cars and in folks' backyards (I'm playful, remember ? ), I let them catch me! I was a little grumbly at first but Papa Tom recognized that for the bluff it was and brought me home to Casa Dane to recover. He checked in with the proper authorities and let them know where I was in case anyone came looking (no one did ? ) and I had to wait 10 days. Once that was up I became an official NWFLGDR foster pup and, let me tell you, I ain't lookin' back! Because I'm a picker and I'm a grinner and I'm a lover, but not a sinner, I like to play in the sun and I get along well with all the other pups here at the Casa. I do like to play chase with the Casa Dane kitty, which she does not seem to appreciate, so Papa Tom says he prefers for me to go to a home without feline persons of the cat persuasion, though I'm not sure why. After all I'm just having fun and trying to get everyone else to join in on it! I am housetrained and know how to use the dog door (but don't worry if you don't have one, because I also know how to let you know when it's time to go out!) I have decent leash manners and love to go for rides. I also kennel up on command and am happy in my crate. I am a top-notch snuggler and love nothing better than curling up to watch some good trash TV or the movie of the week! I'm up to date on my shots, microchipped, and neutered... Papa Tom has been feeding me extra groceries and giving me medicated baths and supplements to get my beautiful black coat to come back, and now I look all shiny and new! So if you've ever wondered just exactly what 'the pompitous of love' is... well adopt me and just maybe one day I'll tell you! Maurice's adoption fee is $350. NW Florida Great Dane Rescue Inc.'s Adoption Policy

Our adoption requirements are as follows: 1. All Dogs and Cats in your home MUST be spayed or neutered. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet only. 2. All Dogs and outdoor Cats in your home MUST be current and have been kept historically up to date on annual vaccinations and monthly (or semiannual) heartworm and flea prevention. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions to this in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet, ONLY. 3. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to adopt and be able to prove you're financially able to care for a great dane should a medical emergency arise. 4. You must own the property in which you live or your landlord must be willing to verify that you are allowed to have a Great Dane in your rental home. We check property records.? 5. Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered. In addition, if the adoption does not work out, it is your responsibility to bring the dane safely back to us. 9. There may be multiple applications for the same Dog. Our Great Danes are placed in the home we believe most suitable for them, based upon their individual needs and temperament. 10. Before applying below, please expect this application process to take about two weeks. If you are applying from out of area or state, please expect a slight delay.
