Maui's Story

Maui
4 month, 4lbs
Rescued in the Southwest

Meet Maui (aka Mowie Wowie)! At just 4 months and 4 pounds, this sweet little guy is very affectionate and cuddly — happy to run errands with you or just lay quietly by your side, essentially your shadow for the day. He's medium energy, deeply bonded to his foster parents, and a bit more cautious around unfamiliar people, especially if they're loud or high-energy; he does best being introduced to new people gently, in calm, quiet settings. He's sweet with other calm, friendly dogs (he'll let you know with a quiet growl if a dog feels too big or intense for him), hasn't met any cats yet, and only whines briefly in his crate before settling for the night.

As a young pup, Maui's still working through the basics — he's making good progress with puppy pads, isn't wild about the crate (he'd much rather sleep with his people), and doesn't know commands yet, though he responds beautifully to sweet, encouraging tones and picks things up fast. He loves chew toys and anything with rope or fringe for his baby teeth, and while he enjoys play, he loves chilling next to you even more. Maui would do best with someone who works from home or has another gentle, friendly pet around, in a moderate-to-calm apartment household — he's polite, rarely barks or whines without good reason, and his foster describes him as remarkably well-behaved for a puppy with no formal training yet. He's small enough to take everywhere and loves every minute of it — the perfect companion for someone ready to give him the reassurance and gentle patience he needs to keep blossoming.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Maui, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
