Silky Wirehair Dachshund who is discovering a whole new world — one paw at a time. <br/><br/>Maui was rescued from Central California, where he had been living outside. Until now, the comforts of being an indoor dog were completely unfamiliar to him. Soft beds, televisions, household noises, people coming and going — even the everyday things most dogs take for granted are brand-new experiences for Maui.<br/><br/>And honestly? The inside world can be a little scary when you’ve never known it before. <br/><br/>Maui is learning that a house can be a safe place, that a cozy bed belongs to him, and that the people around him are there to love and protect him. Every day brings another tiny victory as he slowly builds confidence and begins to understand the good life. <br/><br/> One thing Maui already understands perfectly is DOGS! He absolutely loves other dogs and feels much more comfortable when he has calm canine friends around to show him that everything is okay.<br/><br/>Maui isn’t looking for a loud, busy household or a family expecting an instant lap dog. His perfect home will be calm, patient, loving, and willing to let him adjust at his own pace. A confident, friendly dog companion would be a wonderful bonus.<br/><br/>He may need a little extra time to learn that the scary new world around him is actually filled with warm blankets, treats, belly rubs, and people who love him.<br/><br/>Maui has already made it from an outdoor life to the beginning of something beautiful.<br/><br/>Now he just needs someone willing to help him discover how wonderful the good life can really be. <br/><br/>Maui is currently being fostered in Orange County.
