Matty LaBlanc's Story
On New Year’s Eve, as heavy rain fell in Victorville, California, a homeless man pleaded for help—not for himself, but for his three dogs. We received a text from a Good Samaritan who was willing to pick them up and bring them to us if we could take them in.

Chihuahuas are among the least adoptable dogs and, heartbreakingly, are some of the most euthanized in California shelters. Our local shelters are already full of them. But on this New Year’s Day, we somehow found room for three more.

Matty LeBlanc is a 1.5-year-old, 15-pound Pug-Chihuahua mix. He’s a little more on the timid side compared to his brother, but his sweet nature shines through. He bears a few scars on his face and chest—likely from a past encounter with another dog—but they haven’t dulled his love for people. He adores people, loves being petted, and is always eager for attention. He does well with other dogs with a slow one on one introduction. Full of enthusiasm and affection, we’re excited to see more of his personality shine as he settles in.

Now fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Matty is ready for his second chance!

----

Looking to Adopt? Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation.

More on our process:
Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!
