Matthew's Story

🐾Hi, I’m Matthew 👋 and I'm 4 months old & 27 lbs🐾
I’m a happy, go-with-the-flow kind of puppy who’s just out here living my best life — chewing my bones, chasing my toys, and making friends everywhere I go.

I love other dogs, I’m great with kids, and I’m the kind of guy who can hang in public like a pro.

Whether we’re out exploring or just at home, I’m pretty much always down for whatever you’re doing.

I’ve been working really hard on my house training and I’m doing great — as long as you catch my cues, I know exactly what I’m supposed to do. (I’m a smart boy like that.)

I’ve got the perfect mix of playful and sweet. I’ll zoom around and have my fun, but I’m also a total softie who just wants to be part of your world.

They’re not totally sure what my breed mix is, but I’m expected to be a medium-large to large sized dog when I grow up — just more of me to love!

Since I’m still just a baby, I’m looking for a home that’s ready to keep teaching me all the good stuff — structure, consistency, and all the puppy basics. I’ll also need a flexible schedule since I’m too little to be crated all day.

If you’re looking for a best friend who’s equal parts fun, sweet, and ready to grow up by your side… I’m your guy 💙 Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info and videos on me!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
