Matilda's Story

Meet Matilda, lovingly called “Tillie.”
She was named after Matilda — a story about a small girl with a big heart who endured more than she ever should have… and still chose love.

Tillie’s story begins on the side of a road, pressed up against a guard rail, waiting. She had been abandoned there. Cars passed. Time passed. And somehow, she stayed. When she was finally brought to safety, she carried with her a quiet uncertainty — the kind that comes from not understanding why you were left behind.

She can be a little nervous at first. New people, new places — she just needs a minute to feel safe. But when she does? She melts. The walls come down, and the real Tillie shines through.

She becomes devoted. Loyal. Your shadow.
She will follow you from room to room, rest her head on your lap, and look at you like you are her whole world — because to her, you will be.

Tillie is about 2 years old and weighs 35 pounds — the perfect size to curl up beside you. She is fully house trained, crate trained, walks great on a leash, and knows some basic commands. Tillie would do best in a home without young children. She loves to play fetch, gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats, and is the definition of a cuddle bug. She also can keep herself occupied. Loves to play with her toys even without you around. She is simply the perfect dog once she gets to know you!

What she needs now isn’t just a home — it’s reassurance. Patience. Someone who understands that the softest hearts are often the ones that have been hurt.

Tillie survived being left behind. Now she’s just waiting for someone who will never let her go again.
