Matilda's Story

Matilda was found as a stray in SC. We pulled her from the shelter and she arrived in NH in October. She's about 10 months old, 37lbs, has short legs and lots of rolls - maybe part bulldog? She's spayed, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines.

She is SO sweet and gentle and polite. She likes stuffed toys, treats, knows "sit," and has been doing well meeting new people. She is sometimes shy at first but warms up quickly. Matilda has the silliest zoomies!

She's very playful with other dogs, likes to wrestle, and is pretty hyper around them. But also respects their space if they get grumpy.

She's still not sure about car rides and has to be picked up to go in or out of vehicles, though she's very calm when in the car. She's overall been very quiet. She does fine when crated. She's doing pretty well with potty training and goes outside consistently, but still needs to go out every 2-3 hours to avoid accidents right now.

Her right eye has a cloudy spot in it, which our vet thinks might be congenital or from an old puncture to her eye. Either way, she does have visibility in that eye and it isn't cause for concern, but her vision likely has a blurred spot in it. It doesn't affect her cuteness though!

You can learn more about our adoption process at jezziesplace.com/adopt, and feel free to reach out to info@jezziesplace.com with any questions.

Jezzie's Place Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process is dynamic and is focused solely on meeting the needs of the dogs in our care and placing them with the best adopters possible. This may mean multiple meet and greets with humans and/or other dogs, home visit, a short trial period at the new home, special requirements, etc. depending on the dog's needs. We do NOT operate on a first-come first-serve basis, which means we match adopters based on the needs and temperament of the dog, and not who submitted their application first. Please understand that it is not guaranteed that you will be able to adopt a specific dog you’re interested in. What you can expect from the typical adoption process: * Submit an adoption application * After we receive your application, we’ll contact you by email within 2 days * Phone call chat with a rescue team member * Rescue will check veterinary references * Rescue will check landlord reference (if applicable) * In-person visit at Jezzie's Place with rescue dog, everyone who lives in the home, and any other dog(s) that live in the home * Any extra steps needed for the dog’s success and well-being * If all goes well, we schedule a time for you to bring your new dog home (we typically do not do same day adoptions) * Sign adoption contract and pay adoption fee * Welcome your new family member home! When you adopt from Jezzie’s Place, you also receive: * A thorough description of everything we know about your dog: likes, dislikes, fears, favorite toys, play style, quirks, any evals with other animals, etc. * Any medical history we have on your dog: health certificates, exams, vaccine history, surgeries, imaging, treatments, prescriptions, etc. * Small amount of dry food to help transition your dog to whatever food you choose to feed once home (we can offer recommendations if you would like) * Collar * Leash * Continued support and guidance throughout your dog’s life! Support & Guidance Beyond Adoption: We remain committed to our rescue dogs and their adoptive families throughout the dog’s entire life. If there are any problems or concerns with their health or well-being, we are here to help. Adopters can always ask us for advice or guidance! If for any reason during your dog’s life you are unable to keep your dog, you must return your dog to Jezzie’s Place Rescue.
