Matilda Chihuahua Mix Lincoln Park, MI

Hi there!

I’m Matilda. I am an approximately 6-8 year old, female chihuahua mix. I was rescued from a local hoarding situation with my puppies. I weigh about 11lbs. I have been with the rescue for almost an entire year! My foster mom loves me SO MUCH and wants to make sure I go to the very best home.

I am looking for a very special home with a fully fenced yard (due to my fear of leashes). I would do best in a quiet home, either as the only pet or with another calm cat or small dog. I love women, but am incredibly fearful of men and children. I am not aggressive when scared, but would prefer to run and hide. I can be very shy at first, but will be your best friend and give lots of snuggles and kisses once I warm up to you. I love my kennel with my comfy bed as my “safe place”.

I had very bad dental disease and have had my teeth cleaned and some extracted. I have also been spayed, vaccinated, fecal/heartworm tested, and received a 1-year heartworm prevention injection. I do have a heart murmur, but it does not currently require medication. However, it is a medical condition that will likely require routine vet visits, testing, and potentially medication at some point down the road. I have been graciously awarded a Senior Pet Adoption Grant from Petfinder Foundation that will allow my adoption fee to be waived, and medical costs reimbursed until those funds are depleted for a qualified adopter (woohoo!).

I am a very sweet girl. I love to lay in your lap for belly rubs and to give kisses. I do prefer women to men and am afraid of loud noises or very sudden movements. I do really good with potty training as long as I am taken outside regularly. I’m still learning about leashes and prefer to be carried outside (like the princess I am).
