Mathias

Mathias is a handsome and special young guy. We found him in a shelter in Southern California. He came into the shelter with 3 other dogs. After 2 months, he was the only one left. He was a couple days away from needing a rescue or adoption commitment or going on the euthanasia list. With his handsome looks and coloring, Mathias immediately caught our attention standing in the front of his kennel. He was friendly and kept licking our volunteer's hand. We could not see why no one had taken him. Seeing a fine dog, and with Mathias needing our help, we took him from the shelter at once.<br/><br/>Mathias is estimated to be about 6 months old. He weighs 16 pounds. He is a beagle mix. This guy has a smooth tri-colored coat, with different shades of brown sprinkled with black. His muzzle has white, he has the white beagle mark on his neck, a tip of white on his tail, and four white paws.<br/>While young, Mathias is well-behaved. He limits his puppy energy to playing with toys, playing ball. And some running around with his foster siblings. He gets along great with other dogs. He rides well in the car, including riding on the arm rest. He likes to stay close on the sofa, and he was comfortable enough to get on the bed and sleep there on his own. He enjoys snuggling.<br/><br/>Mathias is a sweet and friendly dog. Those sides have emerged quickly after he left the shelter, as he has decompressed and built trust. He is somewhat resistant to walking on a leash, perhaps still being young and unfamiliar, but also somewhat afraid of where he may be taken. In time, he likely will be fine.<br/>Mathias is a great beagle mix looking to make the full transition to a loving forever home.
