MARY POPPINS's Story

WATCH MY VIDEO...Everyone here tells me I’m perfect. They tell me I’m a good girl, they love on me, they stop by my kennel to say hello... but the people who come looking for a dog keep walking past me. My name is Mary Poppins. I’m 5 years old, and I am officially the longest resident at the shelter. It’s starting to make me feel pretty down. I lost my home when my family’s landlord would no longer allow me to stay, and I’ve been waiting ever since for someone else to choose me. I’ve watched so many dogs around me leave with their new families, and somehow I’m still here. The funny thing is, everyone who actually spends time with me LOVES me. I’m affectionate, I come when I’m called, I love toys and treats, I enjoy my walks, and mostly I just want to be wherever my people are. I’ve become a favorite of our staff and volunteers, but as much as they love me, I really want a family of my own. I can be a little picky about my dog friends, so if you already have a dog, a meet is strongly advised. I’m not aggressive... I’m just a girl. I’m allowed to have opinions about who I live with! I also have skin allergies that we’re treating, but with a loving indoor home and continued veterinary care, I can live a happy, comfortable life. I’ve never lived with a kitty before, and I may be a little too curious around one. And thanks to my friend Sam Bennett and his goals for the @bennysbuddies9 program, my adoption fee is already covered. @sbennett_93 - Please don’t keep walking past me. Give me a chance to show you why everyone here keeps telling me I’m perfect. To meet Mary, please complete the pre-adoption application and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. Our adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. If you can’t adopt Mary, please share her. She’s waited long enough. ?????
