What is Norfolk SPCA’s adoption process?

Thank you for considering adopting one of our many wonderful pets! The Norfolk SPCA is committed to finding permanent, loving homes for each individual in our care. We work very hard to ensure the best matches between companion and owner. Here are a few guidelines that we do require prior to taking home your new friend. Adoption Requirements: --Applicant must be 18 years of age and provide photo ID with current address. --Provide lease of pet addendum, landlord approval or proof of home ownership. --All residents in the home must meet the animal. --Provide proof of rabies on resident animals. (All vaccines must be current if adopting a puppy). --Dog introduction between resident dog and NSPCA dog to help evaluate compatibility. --Leash and collar are required to finalize dog adoptions. --Carrier is required for cat adoptions. --24 hour holds are placed once an application and consultation are completed with staff. Adoption Fees (subject to change - see website for details): Puppy (under 1 yr) $225 Dog (1-6yrs) $160 Dog (7yrs+) $120 Kitten (under 1 yr) $130 Cat (1-6yrs) $85 Cat (7yrs+) $65 Rabbit $60 Small Animal $20 – $50 Bird $30+
