My name is Marty (my name in Mexico is "Manchas") and here is some info about me:<br/><br/>PHYSICAL INFO:<br/><br/><br/> Breed: Shepherd/Lab Mix <br/> Age: approx. 3 years<br/> Gender: Female<br/> Weight: 50 lbs<br/> Height: 70 cm<br/> Length: 90 cm<br/> Current Location: MEXICO CITY<br/><br/><br/>RESCUE STORY – Me and my four sisters (Rizzo, Frenchy, Jani, and Sandy) were rescued from La Marquesa, a rural park area in Mexico City. We were incredibly young puppies and our mama was nowhere to be found. We certainly would not have survived long out there if we hadn't been rescued... so we are sooo grateful to have been taken in bby our amazing rescuer. Me and my sisters ("the Pink Ladies") have spent the rest of our lives at the shelter here in Mexico and boy are we ever ready for our forever homes!! Are you ready for me??<br/><br/>TEMPERAMENT - I am a very sweet and loving puppy. I can be timid when meeting new people but once I warm up, I am eager for affection (video) and love to play! I like to wrestle and play with my siblings and I get along with dogs of all sizes. Here is a video of me gettin scritches from a stranger and meeting a new pup. Here is a video of me meeting some nice teenagers for the first time. I love to give kisses and receive pets from people I trust. I am looking for a family who is ready for "all things puppy" - hoomans who are open to working with potential play nipping, high energy, housetraining, and leash skills. I promise to repay you with loads of cuddles, kisses, and tail wags!<br/><br/>ENERGY LEVEL - High - I have very typical puppy energy! I play hard and I crash hard (although I may need help learning how to settle and self regulate... crate training will likely do wonders for me!). I am looking for a family who can provide opportunities for me to release my energy through both exercise and mental stimulation. Once I've been sufficiently tuckered out, I bet I'll be happy to cuddle up next to you and have a little cuddle. <br/><br/>GETS ALONG WITH:<br/><br/><br/> Kids – Yup! Check out my video of me meeting some older children. I am a bit timid around them but am happy to give kisses. If I go to a home with children, they will need to respect my space and be patient with me.<br/> Dogs – Yup! In addition to my siblings, I live with LOTS of other dogs at the shelter and we get along just great. I think I would love to live in a home with a doggy friend who can show me the ropes. If not, some dogg-o play dates will suffice! I am playful and love to wrestle with other willing participants!<br/> Cats – Unknown.<br/><br/><br/>PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around new things in Canada like cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. <br/><br/>TRAINING:<br/><br/><br/> Leash skills – Work in progress! Here is a video of me walking with my sister, Sandy. This whole leash thing is pretty new to me, as a young pup (video). I will need a patient adopter who is happy to work on my leash training and who can teach me how to walk nice. A well-fitted harness and lots of positive reinforcement will help me learn quickly :) <br/><br/> <br/> Feb 2024 update - check out this video and this video of me practicing my leash skills at the park!<br/> <br/> <br/> House trained – Work in Progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn propper habits in my new home :)<br/><br/><br/>Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. <br/><br/>HEALTH NOTES:<br/><br/><br/> I am spayed and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.<br/> I receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm.<br/> NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits.
