Martha's Story
Meet Martha, she's got her paws crossed you're her furever home!

Female I Collie Mix I 50lbs I 1.5 yrs I UTD on shots I Good with dog-savvy children

Rescued from Northern Ontario due to displacement from the forest fires

Background

Martha is a 1.5-year-old, 50 lb girl rescued from Northern Ontario. We believe she may have been a stray that was displaced due to the forest fires in the area, and she is still learning that she is safe and that her people will always come back for her. Since arriving in foster care, she has made wonderful progress — becoming more playful, confident and curious every day!

Personality

Martha is an absolute sweetheart who adores people, especially children. She is gentle, patient, calm and incredibly affectionate. She loves being close to her people and being included in everyday life, whether that means lounging on the couch, enjoying belly rubs or sitting on the porch people-watching.
She is friendly and confident when meeting new people, although she can become overwhelmed by busy environments and other dogs. Martha is also a bit of a fancy lady — she loves crossing her front paws when she settles down, earning herself the nickname fancy feet!

Activity & Training

Martha has moderate energy and enjoys daily walks, sniffing adventures and playtime. She is just discovering toys and has the cutest little pounces when she gets excited. She is a quick learner and eager to please. She knows sit and is working on down, come, wait and polite door manners.
Leash walking is still a work in progress. Martha can become reactive to other when overwhelmed. Her recovery time is already improving with consistent training.
Martha is also working through separation anxiety and crate training. She currently prefers to be near her people and can become distressed when left alone, but her foster family has already made significant progress.

Ideal Home

Martha would thrive in a quieter suburban or rural home, ideally with a securely fenced yard and someone who is home often. She needs a patient, confident family committed to continuing her training and helping her build independence at her own pace.
Martha would prefer to be the only pet in the home as she does have some mild prey drive so she is not suited to living with cats or small animals.

Summary

Meet Martha, aka Honey — because life really is sweeter with this beautiful snuggle bug around! Martha is a gentle, affectionate girl who absolutely adores her people and especially loves children. She is playful, cuddly and eager to please, while still learning how to navigate the world with confidence. Martha will need a patient family willing to continue working on her leash reactivity and separation anxiety, but she has already shown just how much progress she can make. For the right family, Martha will be a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, sharing her cuddles, fancy feet and sweet personality

All Applicants must be residents of the Toronto, ON or the GTA to apply.

Apply here to Adopt
http://seapawsrescue.org/adoptionApplication.html
