Marnie's Story

WHAT IS YOUR NAME?
Hi! I'm Marnie!

ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL?
I'm a darling little girl.

HOW OLD ARE YOU?
The vet thinks I was born sometime in 2022.

WHAT BREED ARE YOU?
French Bulldog

HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH?
I weigh 25 pounds.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE?
I have the most beautiful shiny black coat. I practically glow! Oh, and you'll obviously notice my amazing tongue that is always hanging out. It's my best feature.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT?
Um, anything and everything? I love my mixed lamb and salmon food kibble, plus I get a little bit of pumpkin puree and a sardine at dinner just because I'm so darn cute!

WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE?
I am the happiest and sweetest girl! I get sooo excited to see my foster parents and siblings, and I love to play! I can be a little nervous at first when I am in new places, but with some encouragement and attention I do great.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY:
My favorite thing to do is play fetch with my ball and run around with my foster siblings. I'm so fast they can't catch me! After all the running and playing and fetching, it's cuddle time with the humans, followed by some zoom zoom zoomies around the house, and finally wrapping up the day with foster sibling cuddles before I head off to bed so I can wake up rested for more fun tomorrow!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY?
My ball is the best!! But I also love soft toys and tug toys and squeaky toys... pretty much just any toys.

DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS?
I can sit and my foster parents are trying to teach me to sit pretty. (Although I'm so gorgeous that my sit is already a sit pretty, right?) Oh, and I have superpowers, including the ability to jump over the couch from the ground!

WHAT SCARES YOU?
I get nervous with new places and new loud noises. I adjust pretty well, but new things can be scary. The roomba scared me the first time I heard it, but I showed it who's boss with a few choice barks, so I am not afraid of it anymore! I also get nervous when people reach over my head really quickly, I prefer chest pets and slower movement over me at first.

HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN?
Yes! I got to hang out with a two-year-old cutie and I fell in love! I am very gentle and was such a good girl playing with her.

DO YOU LIKE CATS?
There are a couple cats that live with me, but they don't like us dogs, so they avoid us. I don't bark at them, but I do really want to play. I would need a slow introduction to a new cat so I don't scare them.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS?
I love them! I'm always trying to get my foster siblings to play with me.

IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE?
Anywhere I can play with some dog friends and my ball.

HOW IS YOUR HEALTH?
I've got a great nose, and I breathe really well for a Frenchie! I do have allergies and get a Cytopoint shot every six weeks or so. I also need my ears flushed and tail pocket wiped every week so I don't get infections. Typical Frenchie life, y'know?

WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION?
I live with my foster parents and canine foster siblings. There are also two cats that avoid all of us dogs. I love two of my foster siblings the most because they play with me all the time. Foster mom is runner up in the favorites category, and I love to sleep on her lap.

WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE?
In my crate snuggled up in my bed. I like my crate and do really well in there day or night. And when that pesky roomba rolls by, I just give it some what-for and remind it to get away from my space.

WHERE DO YOU SLEEP?
I go right in my crate when it is time for bed. Gnight!

DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH?
I do really well on leash. It's my time to explore all the world's smells, so just know that we will be taking our time as I sniff all the things!

DO YOU HAVE ANY NOT-SO-GREAT HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?
My foster parents call me a cat! I'm really good at jumping and climbing. I was able to sneak toys from on top of the crates and can jump over the couch where they have our dog area baby gated. My foster mom was so surprised when she put me behind the gate then I just appeared at her side when she turned around!

ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)?
I never have accidents overnight in my crate, and I go right outside through the doggy door in the morning. When I first come to your (our) house, please show me where my potty area is and be patient as I learn a new routine. I will figure it out with guidance and consistency.

DO YOU LIKE WATER?
I do great in the bath! It helps that I get to bring my ball in the bath and play with it while I'm being washed. And I will even go outside to play in the rain if it involves chasing a ball.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY?
My foster parents play fetch with me all the time, and my foster siblings are ready to play at all times too! They also cuddle with me a lot. They are the best!

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOUR FUTURE ADOPTER?
Oh, I have so much to tell you! I can't wait to meet you and show you how much fun I am! We are going to be best friends, I just know it!

** Marnie's adoption fee is $750 (for: spay surgery, current vaccines, microchip, monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention.)

If you are interested in adopting Marnie, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org

For information on why our Bulldog fees are set as they are, please click on the following link:
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=5004742079644959&id=333019703483910&mibextid=qC1gEa

At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas (which means Sacramento County, parts of El Dorado County and parts of Placer County).

For more information on what that means and why that is, please click on the following link:
https://www.facebook.com/333019703483910/posts/3264412130344638/?extid=0&d=n

Thank you so much in advance!

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue's Adoption Policy
**We are currently only adopting out to the immediate Sacramento area which includes Sacramento County, parts of Placer County and parts of ElDorado County. We currently hold adoption events once a month at the Pet Food Express store in the Roseville Fountains. Please check our Facebook page for announcements! ADOPTION PROCESS: The first step in the adoption process is the completion of our online adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org. **Your application will not be reviewed if you do not live with the immediate Sacramento area which is Sacramento County, parts of Placer County or some parts of Eldorado County) The second step is the home check. Our main priority in this step is insuring that your yard is 100% secure - there can be no loose boards or gaps in your fencing. If your dog is going to be spending anytime outside while you are at work or away from home, we ask that you have adequate shade or shelter from the elements. Before we schedule a home check, we may ask you to send us photos of your yard/fencing to get an idea of where the dog will be living. If you have any hesitation or questions about our yard check, please see our section on "How to Prepare for a Home Check." The last step in the adoption process is the meet and greet. This is where we meet with you and any existing pets to ensure proper introductions are made. We want to make sure everyone gets along. Once all introductions are made, and everyone gets along, your rescue dog is yours to adopt. Please note that there is no pressure involved, and if situation that cannot be resolved arises, we will always take our dog back. Also, be aware that there is an acclimation period for each dog and every dog is different. It can take a few days or a few weeks for your new dogs to settle in. We will assist in any way possible, including referring our trainer to come work with you and the dog. ADOPTION PREREQUISITES: All of our dogs are rescues, meaning they have already needed help in some way, and will only to to homes where they will live a "CHARMED LIFE." All of our adoptive dogs will be indoor dogs with outdoor privileges. We believe that dogs are family members, and should be allowed to sleep indoors. The only time they should be kept outdoors is if the weather permits. Any applications looking for an outdoor only dog will be denied. All current pets in your home need to be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and one heartworm preventive. Out of area adoptions are within reason and on a case-by-case basis. HOW TO PREPARE FOR A HOME CHECK: Walk the perimeter of your yard. Take notes on the condition of your fence. Are there any loose boards or gaps under any sections of you fencing? If yes, these are easy fixes. You can nail any loose board back into place, and you can fill any gaps with pavers and gravel Do you have a lock on your gate? If not, please purchase one prior to your home check. Is there adequate shade or shelter for your new dog if it is going to be left outdoors while you're at work? Do you have anything hazardous in your yard, i.e. nails sticking out, chemicals left out, etc? Do you have a cat? If so, does your cat have a high spot it can retreat to if being chased? Are your garbage cans located somewhere near a gate where a dog can jump into them to get out? If so please move them. Please address these issues prior to our visit. ADOPTION FEES: All of our dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to being adopted. Our adoption fees are considered to be donations. All donations from adoption go right back into our rescue account, allowing us to continue to help dogs in need. At the bare minimum, the cost to properly vet a dog is $100. But some of the dogs we take on are medical cases, which can cost several thousand dollars. Because of this, we ask the following adoption fees: $500 for puppies, which are any dogs under a year old $300 for most adult dog aged 1 year or older. (French/English Bulldogs have significantly higher adoption fees which are explained on our website.)
