Meet Marley-SPECIAL NEEDS

Update: Marley got some disappointing medical news and needs a very special understanding person to open their heart and home to him. We learned when I know he was only a year old in his original home, he was hit by a car and had a broken pelvis and needed his tail amputated. So he healed and was able to walk again, he does leak some urine likely due to nerve damage from the injury. He will need someone to keep him clean and wear a belly band/diaper wrap. This poor guy has been through a lot in his young life and we know he’s not an easy placement but it only takes that one special person to change his life... could it be you? Email njwoof@cs.com to meet him.

This 5 year old chiweenie (chi/doxie mix) is short on legs but long on quirks in true doxie fashion ?

He was passed around a bit after his owner died and ended up in a shelter... he’s a very nervous insecure little dude but sweet once he bonds to his person and is accustomed to a calmer adult home. He is nervous with strangers and thinks it’s his job to protect his chosen people so needs lower traffic home without close neighbors. Marley failed his resource guarding test at the shelter, biting the fake hand (but really, does any doxie love having their stuff taken away!?) so his person should give him space and time to bond and practice trading him if you need to take something from him. He came into the shelter with a skin infection that has already much improved with medicated baths and treatment, and he is hypothyroid and on inexpensive medication he takes easily in cheese! He’s the size and shape of a standard doxie, about 18lbs.

Marley is nervous around other dogs and about selective about his canine friends as well, although he’s starting to improve in his foster home and even started to play with a chihuahua friend! So he may be able to live with the right dog pending a meet and slow introductions.

We are hoping we can find a doxie-savvy person who will understand and appreciate him for who he is and love him unconditionally.

Please email njwoof@cs.com to meet Marley
