Margot Jelly Bean's Story

Margot Jelly Bean
**Margot Jelly Bean**
Female English Bulldog Mix
2 Years Old 44 Pounds

**$500 Adoption Fee**
(Margot's adoption fee is slightly higher than our average fee because she has undergone extensive airway surgery to improve her quality of life.)

Margot Jelly Bean is equal parts bulldog, comedian, and couch companion.

Despite weighing 44 pounds, Margot firmly believes she should leap into your lap never let something as minor as physics stand in her way. She enjoys cheek rubs, ear rubs, butt scratches, and giving you a butt bump towards you when she feels additional scratches are warranted.

Margot is goofy, affectionate, and full of personality. She loves going for walks, enjoys car rides, and is always up for a game of fetch. She's the kind of dog who likes being included in your life but is also perfectly content entertaining herself or taking a nap when the excitement is over.

As a bulldog, she is prone to overheating and doesn't always know when it's time to call it quits. She'd happily keep her walk going long after she should, so she'll need an adopter who understands the breed and is willing to bring her inside despite her reason not wanting her adventures cut short, but keeping her safe is part of loving her.

Margot enjoys spending time with her people, but she isn't a velcro dog. She's loves napping by herself on the couch or in a cozy bed and can entertaiafternon herself with a Benebone.

While Margot can be a little cautious with new people in new situations (like at the vet) we've learned that treats are a fast route to her heart and being showered with kisses.

Margot is also a quirky bulldog communicator. She comes equipped with a full range of bulldog grumbles, snorts, and sound effects that can sometimes be more dramatic than the situation itself. Sometimes her canine housemates aren't quite sure what to make of her unique communication style, but Margot is usually just trying to interact, play, or join in on the fun.

Margot has received extensive medical care while in rescue. She has had her nares widened, her elongated soft palate corrected, and her saccules removed to help improve her breathing and overall comfort. While she still snores (some things are simply part of the bulldog experience), she breathes significantly better and is much more comfortable than when she first arrived.

**Margot is:**
House trained
Crate trained
Spayed
Up to date on vaccinations
Has undergone nares widening, soft palate correction, and saccule removal surgery to improve her breathing and long-term quality of life

We think Margot would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only dog, soaking up all the couch privileges for herself. However, she has also shown that she can successfully live with other dogs when given proper time and space to settle in. She currently lives with multiple foster dogs and a cat and has worked hard to become part of the pack. Her ideal canine companions would be dogs who are comfortable sharing toys, treats, and attention.

What has been most rewarding to watch is seeing Margot go from standing on the sidelines to actively seeking acceptance from the other dogs. These days, she wants couch privileges right alongside everyone else. She wants to be included, to belong, and to be part of whatever the family is doing.

Like many rescue dogs, Margot may need a little time to settle into a new environment. When she's feeling overwhelmed, she appreciates having a quiet space to decompress and process things at her own pace. Once she feels safe, her goofy personality and sweet nature shine through.

Because Margot is a sturdy, enthusiastic bulldog who occasionally forgets her own size when hopping onto the couch or climbing into a lap, she may not be the best match for very young or especially delicate children.

She's looking for a family that understands and appreciates bulldogs—their goofy antics, their stubborn streaks, their oversized personalities, and their enormous capacity for love. Someone who will laugh at her quirks, appreciate her independence, enjoy her companionship, and give her the time she needs to settle in and feel at home.

The only thing bigger than Margot's head is her heart.

If you're searching for a loyal companion, occasional lap dog, fetch enthusiast, couch buddy, and all-around bulldog character, Margot may just be your girl.

We verify references for our fosters and volunteers to make sure our rescued animals have the best care while waiting for their forever homes. Likewise, we ask any potential adopter fill out and submit our adoption application prior to scheduling a meet and greet with a pet in a foster home. This does not obligate you to adopt, but it is the first step towards being added to our approved list of adopters. Applicants are approved pending vet reference and personal reference checks, and a home visit. All current animals in the home must be spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines as well as heartworm and flea prevention and any information provided on an application will be verified. Thank you for your patience with our process! We are grateful you are looking to adopt your next pet.
