Margarita's Story

Margarita has a party girl name and the ears to match it! We can never figure out which direction they're going to be going at any given moment. Coming all the way from Puerto Rico, this little lady was rescued from a life on the streets with her sisters when they were little teeny babies, and they've all made their way to Colorado!

A slow burn, patience is a key for our sweet Margarita. She's very unsure in new situations, but does very well when other confident dogs are around to help her out. She'd do very well in a home with some other pup siblings. We have her listed as 'special needs' just because she's going to really need a family willing to give her the time, space, and attention she needs to become a part of your family.

Margarita loves to play, and she loves to be outside. We think she'll make a great adventure partner one day! She hasn't met cats yet, but we have no reason to think she won't get along with them. She also hasn't met children, and as long as introductions are slow, calm and careful, we think she'll be okay with them, too!

Margarita is doing well with leash training, potty training, and crate training!

What we really need is someone to take a chance on this lovely girl and show her how sweet and safe life can be - we have no doubt she will blossom with love and care. We also find that the shy pups make the most loyal family pets, as their gratitude is endless!

Margarita is not yet spayed, and is still finishing up all her vaccines, so she is currently available only as Foster-to-Adopt - this is when a potential adopter takes over as her foster, then finalizes everything after Margarita has been fixed.

Usually, satos (homeless dogs from Puerto Rico) are a mix of many breeds, some chihuahua, some pit, and you name it! They are always loving and grateful.
We do not know what breed Margarita is, possibly a lab mix, but a very petite one! Whatever she is, it's a cute combo. We anticipate she will grow into a small/middle-sized adult, possibly around 25-40lb, but of course, they do sometimes surprise us!

Margarita's foster home is in Pueblo, CO.

If you are interested in adopting this pup, please fill out the application here. There is a $400 adoption donation for Margarita:

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BSCO/Dog
