He’s very food-motivated (training is a breeze!) and loves greeting his humans with a happy smile. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants to curl up nearby and keep you company, Marcus is your guy.<br/><br/>He’s fully housebroken with no accidents and does wonderfully both in the house and on walks. True to his hound roots, he’ll occasionally treat you to a classic howl, just a little reminder of his charming personality! He enjoys a shared space with other dog pals - occasionally playing, but perfectly content just hanging out too. <br/><br/>Marcus can be anxious in the car and may feel nervous around men at first. For this reason, he has started a training program with our shelter volunteers. With patience, reassurance, and yummy treats, he continues to build confidence. His adopters should be prepared to continue this training to help him thrive in his furever home. <br/><br/>Marcus' ideal home would be one that provides consistency, patience, and lots of love for this gentle snuggler with a big heart. If you’re ready for a devoted companion who is happiest being near you, Marcus is ready to meet you!<br/>---<br/><br/>We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.<br/><br/>Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $500 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
