She may be very fearful at first—especially with new people and men—but underneath that uncertainty is a deeply affectionate, loving girl waiting to connect.<br/><br/>Her Personality<br/>Mara is a classic “once you’re in, you’re everything” kind of dog. With her foster mom, she is a total Velcro companion—seeking out touch, asking to be held, and wanting to stay close at all times. As she becomes more comfortable, her playful and intelligent side comes through. She loves yard time, zoomies, and interacting with other dogs. She is curious, observant, and even a little mischievous—often collecting toys and creating her own cozy little spaces to relax in. She is still learning boundaries with other dogs and will need patient canine companions who can help guide her appropriately.<br/><br/>The Perfect Home Environment<br/>A Calm, Predictable Space:<br/>Mara thrives in quiet environments where she can decompress and build confidence at her own pace. Busy, loud, or high-traffic homes will overwhelm her.<br/><br/>The Right Companion (Optional but Ideal):<br/>While Mara can be an only dog, she would benefit from a calm, confident small dog—especially another Italian Greyhound—who can help her feel secure and model appropriate behaviors.<br/><br/>Patience with the World Around Her:<br/>Mara is not yet comfortable navigating the world on a leash and is not ready for a walk-based lifestyle. She requires a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore and build confidence.<br/><br/>Why You’ll Love Her<br/>Mara forms deep, meaningful bonds once she feels safe. Watching her choose you, trust you, and seek you out for comfort is incredibly rewarding.
