Maple Syrup's Story
Hi, my name is Maple Syrup! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Energetic, playful, friendly, still learning!
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history, but likely okay with kids of any age. Initial introductions done here at WHS.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - will need slow and structured introductions to ensure everyone gets along.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, could live with a puppy-tolerant dog pending an initial introduction done here at WHS.
-Can do Apartment Living: Will grow into a large breed (think 50+ lbs.) dog who will need more space. May be okay in larger apartments or condos. Up to counselor's discretion.
-Potty Trained: Working on it!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, a six week puppy course
-Energy Level: High (puppy!)
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter
-Additional Information:
Maple Syrup and his siblings were brought to WHS from a home that had too many animals. We don't know much about their history / what breed they are, but we do know they are super cute and eager to find their forever homes! Like any puppy, Maple Syrup is going to need consistent positive reinforcement based training, a stable routine, and responsible socialization. All these things combined will help him grow into the best adult dog he can be! Since Maple Syrup cannot be left alone for long periods, he will need someone with a flexible schedule who has plenty of time to dedicate to his training. He will need daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep him occupied - think walks, play time, puzzle feeders/games, etc. If this will be your first puppy, we recommend doing plenty of research before deciding to adopt.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
