Maple III's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Maple is a really friendly girl, but in a gentle way. She loves meeting new people and getting attention, and she follows her humans around the house when they are home. She enjoys the privilege of sleeping in bed with them at night. She's not always right next to them, but will snuggle and cuddle for a time. So far, Maple seems to have a pretty low energy level. She doesn't play with toys (yet) and although her foster parents haven't seen her playing with the other dogs, she does seem to want to buddy up with them to sniff the yard and will often lie ldown with them to nap or just relax. We have not seen her around kids or cats but we can also say we have not observed any prey drive with squirrels or lizards. Her house training has gone well and she learned to use the dog door to go outside. She is crated when the family is gone to work and occasionally there is a long day of almost 9 hours. She exhibits along Society but will calm down after a few minutes and just lie down in the crate. Maple does pretty well on leash but if she is in a fenced yard she would need supervision or a good secure fence at the bottom as she has shown a tendency to dig at the base. She was pretty skittish in the very beginning and is still very skittish about loud noises. At first even the television seem to scare her. She is hoping for a calm, quiet forever home, and also her future family would need to be aware of her sensitivity to loud noises if leash walking her. Interestingly, she does not appear to be highly food motivated and will sometimes leave food in her dish. How un-beagle like! Maple is heartworm negative and she is ready now for a sleepover.
