She is spunky, playful, endlessly enthusiastic, and believes every toy was personally invented for her entertainment. Wave a flirt pole, toss a soft Frisbee, or wiggle just about anything remotely toy shaped and she is instantly ready to go. She already consistently returns her soft Frisbee, which means she has somehow skipped right past the “keep away is the best game ever” phase that so many puppies seem to major in.<br/><br/>She already knows come, sit, and lie down using hand signals and is happily adding more skills every day. She is almost completely housebroken when kept on a schedule, sleeps through the night in her crate, settles beautifully when it's time to relax, and genuinely enjoys being with her people without needing to be attached to your ankle every waking second.<br/><br/>Now for the important part.<br/><br/>Maple is a performance bred Koolie. She is a working dog through and through. She will be far too much dog for the average “walk around the neighborhood after dinner and call it a day” family. She isn't looking for a hobby. She wants a career. Give this little girl a job and you'll practically see the light bulbs going off over her head.<br/><br/>We are specifically seeking a sports home that wants a true canine partner. With our guidance and ongoing support in training and living with a deaf dog, we have absolutely no doubt Maple has the potential to excel in flyball, nosework, agility, disc, dock diving, or just about any positive reinforcement sport you want to explore together.<br/><br/>Deaf dogs are not limited. They simply communicate differently. In many sports they compete every bit as successfully as hearing dogs, and the partnership built through hand signals and body language is something incredibly special. In fact, they tend to ignore spectators yelling from the sidelines, which might actually be considered a competitive advantage.<br/><br/>If you've been dreaming about your next sport prospect and want a puppy that is equal parts athlete, comedian, and overachiever, Maple just might be your girl. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.<br/><br/>*/*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine.
