Maple's Story

Meet Maple!

Maple is a female, German shepherd, born January 2022! Maple came to B&B from a local shelter and is now in a loving foster home! Maple is such a calm, sweet, and gentle girl. She is independent and will just relax in her bed away from the action but also loves to follow her humans around the house. All she wants is pets and belly rubs- thats when she’s the happiest girl. She is so smart and learning commands very quickly such as sit, stay, down, and come. All she wants is to connect with her people and is very eager to learn more! She’s really good on her leash but has the sniffer of a detective, loves all the sounds and smells, and will bolt to an animal if given the chance. She will get spurts of energy to play with her toys or run around the dog park but otherwise she just lays around the house. She is a sucker for a good walk! She doesn’t beg for any food and sits for her breakfast and dinner.

Maple is crate trained but really likely doesn’t need it- she doesn’t destroy anything around the house and has no desire to get onto the furniture. She’s easy going, easy to train, low energy, and loving, oh and potty trained too!

Maple tolerates children, but doesn’t love when the young ones step on her, she would be best with older children. Right now, she barks at dogs on the leash and is more reactive on leash, so she will need patience and loving to show her she is safe when meeting other dogs. However, when she went to the groomer and vet she said she did great there and was indifferent to other dogs. She loves all people and is oh so gentle. She will let you do whatever you need to such as look at her paws, teeth, and give her a nice brush. She doesn’t mind the car and is really just such a happy girl. Her favorite if just to relax and lay at home with her people. She would do best in a calm energy home that enjoys walks everyday or has a fenced backyard.

Maple is being fostered in Richmond, VA. She is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, heartworm negative, and on monthly preventatives. Her adoption fee is $375 and covers the cost of age-appropriate vaccinations and cost of care while in foster. We require that all adopters, regardless of the dog’s age, are committed to ongoing training and socialization as part of responsible ownership. To adopt Maple, visit www.beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt.

Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption.

Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home.
