Manny - Windsor, VA's Story

Meet Manny, the delightfully quirky senior Xolo! At 8 years young, this independent couch potato has a few unique preferences that make him special. Manny is the ultimate "me time" expert. He's not your typical morning person—more like an 11 AM kinda guy. Before that, he’s all about soaking up some sun in his favorite spot, preferably undisturbed.

He's as housetrained as you are, so if you're on top of a potty schedule he is pretty good. We keep a belly band on him, and he has had a few accidents in it. Typical of small dogs, and hairless ones in particular! We never guarantee housetraining, so if an accident is an issue, you best search elsewhere.

Manny has a bit of a diva side. He’s not a fan of small kids - probably because they move too fast for his laid-back lifestyle. And new people? Well, he’s got a “leave me alone unless it’s dinner time” kind of attitude. But once he warms up to you, you’ll find a loyal and quiet companion - unless, his person decides to leave, he may fuss for a bit.

Manny's had his fair share of health adventures, including a nasty ear infection and a dental to remove his last yucky tooth, but he’s come out stronger and a bit more playful. He’s also on a weight-loss journey, so a couple of half-mile walks a day keep him happy and healthy. Manny gets along with respectful canine pals but isn’t a fan pushy dogs in his face. He will snap and let them know to move on. He'd probably be fine with cats, as he is scared of the bunny at his foster home.

Manny is UTD and ready to go. His liver enzymes were slightly elevated, so a recheck in about 4-6 weeks would be benefical to see if he needs to start an OTC liver support. He despises his nails getting done, which is a necessary evil, so you may need to take him to the vet or groomer for this at least monthly.

He is fostered in Windsor, VA, and his fee is $350. Naked Kisses Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
Here is how the process goes: Step 1: Complete our adoption application including vet and personal references. Step 2: All veterinary and personal references will be contacted, so please be sure to inform them ahead of time to expedite this part of the process. Your vet reference(s) will need to confirm that any current pets you own are spayed/neutered and current on HW prevention. If our volunteer feels any major concerns after speaking with your references, the application process ends here. Step 3: One of our volunteers will conduct an applicant interview and home visit. This allows us the opportunity to get to know you, your lifestyle, home environment, and to determine if your family is the best fit. All members of your household must be present for the home visit. If our volunteer has any major concerns after your home visit, or if you refuse a home visit, your application will be denied at this point. Step 4: Once your application has been approved, we will coordinate a time for you to meet the dog you are interested in adopting. This could occur at your home or the foster's home. If after meeting, the foster parent does not feel you are the best fit for the dog, your application will be denied. Step 5: When you reach this stage, you will be required to sign an adoption contract and provide payment of the adoption fee for the dog. The foster parent will coordinate with you to transfer the dog over to you. Any travel arrangements are the responsibility of the adopter and must be approved by our rescue prior to agreement of adoption.
