Mando's Story

Meet Mando, a gentle giant whose heart is as big as he is! At two years old, this handsome Great Dane is the perfect blend of playmate and cuddler. Mando loves nothing more than an energetic romp in the yard with another playful dog, followed by an evening spent curled up right next to his people on the couch. Mando can sometimes be accidentally clumsy, resulting in a gentle but substantial bump from his body or head. For this reason, we recommend Mando join a family with children over the age of 12. Mando is potty-trained and a polite, eager-to-please companion: he already knows commands like "sit," "down," and "shake." He has a strong preference against confinement (likely due to his shelter experience), but he can be trusted with free-roam in the house. He only exhibits occasional mild chewing tendencies when he hasn't had enough exercise to burn off his Dane energy. Mando would be happiest in an active home where he can be a central part of the action. He would thrive with other dogs, children (over 12), or regularly active owners who can provide him with the daily exercise and engagement he needs to feel secure and loved. When brought into care, Mando was very emaciated and in poor health. Despite his rough start in life, Mando has a heart of gold and can't wait to devote himself to his furever family. To meet him, go to waalrescue.org/adopt and fill out an application. ...
