Mambo's Story

Mambo is a young adult adorably big Bully dog. We are guessing he is about 5 years old and weighs about 75lbs.

Mambo was dumped at an overcrowded shelter in Kansas. There were so many bully-breed dogs in the shelter they were euthanizing a dozen a week. The shelter reached out to us in hopes we could save Mambo and Chulo (another dog in the shelter) literally two hours before their euthanasia. We didn't have committed fosters to save them but we did have a donor who was willing to sponsor us to save them. We decided we could save them both if they came straight to CO to our board and train program since they had room AND because they are bully-breed dogs so we wanted to make sure we set them up for a lifetime of success upon entering our program since the majority of dogs who are euthanized in shelters each year are Bullybreed dogs, especially if they do just one tiny thing wrong.

Our trainer works really hard to set our board and train dogs up for a lifetime of success. She trains them to be confident, happy, social dogs. Since she works so hard with each dog, we require that their forever homes are willing to put in the work with them as well. We require that each of our board and train dogs (even the ones without behavioral issues) go through the eight week training class with their humans, so the humans can learn what the dogs have learned in board and train. This is 100% free to the adopters which is an amazing deal, especially if you are someone who loves to learn and spend time training their dog.

Mambo is a wonderful dog. He gets along with most other dogs and has a few best friends in his playgroup who he gets excited to see every day. He has the best time in playgroup with our trainer. He is a "bull in a China shop" and is just the goofiest big boy. He loves to romp around the yard and can't always control his big body, like a big puppy. We are requiring he goes to a home with a yard so he has that ability to fly around and be his big goofy self! Mambo also LOVES to learn and absorbs new things very quickly, which is amazing, and so much fun for his humans!

If you are interested in adopting Mambo, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com
