Now that her mothering days are behind her, this beautiful 3-year-old, 40-pound Terrier mix is ready to be someone’s beloved forever girl.

With her short brown and fawn coat, pretty honey-coloured eyes, and a look that suggests a little Husky, Cattle Dog, and German Shepherd may be in her family tree, Mama Bear has a wonderfully regal presence. But underneath that dignified exterior is a sweet, gentle girl who simply loves being with her people.

Mama Bear is wonderful with humans of all ages, including children. She is affectionate without being demanding and is always happy to accept a little petting or a good belly rub. She would love to be the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the attention and enjoy having her people to herself. She is cautious and a bit socially awkward with other dogs and generally prefers to keep her distance. She ignores dogs she passes on a walk.

And then there is Mama Bear's very special love language: holding paws! She absolutely loves settling in for some TV while someone holds her paw. Give her a cozy couch, a good binge-worthy series, and a human willing to hold her paw, and she is one happy girl. She will try to convince you that she can be a lap dog too!

Don't let her couch-potato skills fool you, though — Mama Bear is up for any and all adventures! She enjoys a good morning walk or run, and she is perfectly content to spend the rest of the day relaxing with her people. She travels well in the car and walks nicely on leash, although squirrels can still awaken her inner hunter and send her prey drive into action!

Mama Bear is housetrained and has established a regular potty area in her foster yard. She is wonderfully well-mannered in the house — she hasn't chewed anything and doesn't even destroy her stuffies. She is respectful of her surroundings, and although she occasionally likes to "talk," her foster parents have hardly heard her bark.

She is smart, curious, and occasionally a little stubborn, but she is receptive to training when it's delivered with patience, praise, and treats.

Mama Bear enjoys being with her humans, but she is also comfortable spending some time on her own as long as she gets daily exercise. A fenced-in yard is required for this adventurous girl, and she loves to just sit outside in the sunshine.

Whether you're looking for a walking or running buddy, a road-trip partner, a couch cuddler, or someone to hold your paw while you binge-watch your favourite series, Mama Bear is ready.

She has given so much love already. Now it's her turn to be someone's baby.
Mama Bear is ready for her forever family — could that be you?

To apply to adopt this dog go to: http://forms.gle/Ev16pQeQ2zAZWLig6

Rat Terrier Rescue Canada Adoption Fees
Puppies under 1 year - $775
Young adult 1 year - 5 years $650
Adults 6 years - 9 years $575
Seniors 10+ $325

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter .
*EXCLUDING UNALTERED PUPPIES UNDER A YEAR.

The adoption fee also includes, at a minimum, vaccinations, de-worming, I.D. tag and microchip insertion.
