MAMA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!***UPDATE 1/12/14 Mama had to have emergency surgery to remove a very infected and rotting kidney. Dogs, like people, can do very well with just one kidney and she is expected to make a full recovery. Mama will be available for adoption the weekend of Jan 24th**********Mama is a very beautiful, sweet and very gentle 2-3 year old female Retriever/Chow mix in need of a loving home. Poor Mama was rescued from a high kill shelter in Kentucky with her three gorgeous little pups. Mama was just skin and bones when we rescued her, one of the skinniest dogs we've ever come across, but still did her best to care for her pups. Mama was a wonderful mother and really doted on her babies, unfortunately though, the litter came down with a virus and all of her babies passed away. Mama has been through a lot the past month and would really love to find her forever home soon. She can be a little timid at first, but warms up very quickly. She has a very quiet and gentle nature and will be a great companion. She is generally pretty mellow, but does have a playful side as well and enjoys tossing her toys up in the air to catch them! Mama is well behaved in the home and does well in her crate. If your're looking for a great companion dog that is still young, but past the puppy stage, then Mama just might be your girl.
