Greyhounds are available at Maine Greyhound Placement Service. They are going into new homes quickly so instead of posting individual pictures, this is a post saying that we have Greyhounds available or will be getting more to Maine for adoption. The pictures on this post are of female greyhounds that have been adopted. Please go to our website at greyhoundplacement.com and fill out an adoption application as a first step toward adopting. You can also find up to date information on our Facebook page @ Friends of Maine Greyhound Placement Service.

Greyhounds stand between 26 and 29 inches tall at the shoulders and weigh between 50 and 80 pounds. Greyhounds come in a variety of colors ranging from black to red and any shade of brindle even blue or any combination of these with white.

Retired racing greyhounds are quiet, clean, sweet dogs that adapt and get along with children and other pets. They reward their new owners with never-ending affection. They do not require a great deal of exercise as most people think. Inside the house they enjoy curling up on a soft blanket or dog bed.
