MAKO's Story

Mako (A139872) is a 1-year-2-month-old Lab mix who weighed 47.1 pounds on intake! 06/06/26 Mister Mako is back at the shelter because he is a very hyper dog, and his previous owners were about to have a new baby and did not feel they had the time to devote to his training. Mako is a very energetic young dog who LOVES to play! He will even play fetch with himself or chase his own tail if there are no toys nearby! Mako was said to love going on walks, and he knows some basic commands, such as sit, lay down, paw, go potty, and stay (as long as he knows you're watching). Mako does like chewing on things, so making sure he has plenty of appropriate chew toys will be important so his mouth doesn't wander to things that should not be chewed. Mako was said to do well with other dogs, as well as kids. Please make sure any and all introductions are done in a slow and controlled manner to allow for the best possible outcome. He was also said to be housebroken. He has been known to dig and chew, but he was said to be very respectful of the 4ft fence in the backyard, where he spent most of his unsupervised time. Mako will also jump on people and coutners, but he was asid to generally mind well and to do well in the car. If you are interested in meeting Mako, please give us a call! 09/30/25 This cute boy is Mako! Mako was surrendered to the shelter because he was too big for his last owner and still growing! With that being said, he was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate who does great with all! Mako was said to especially love children! In his last home, he also did well with dogs, cats, and even his granddaughter’s horse! Please ensure you are making slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new animals to help set Mako up for success! He is still a puppy and has that puppy energy, which is not always appreciated by all. Also, in puppy fashion this boy was said to be a super chewer providing him plenty of appropriate chew toys is important! His prior owner also noted that he is a pro “earthmover”. Mako was born to dig! Keep this in mind when Mako is outdoors. Mako was said to be kennel trained, rides well in a car, and is mostly housebroken (he does still tinkle when he is excited). Mako is a very sweet boy looking for a home that can continue to work with him. If you are interested in meeting Mako, please let us know!
