Major's Story

SAVING MAJOR.....

When you google a Blue Tick Coon Hound, this is what you find:
"Blue Tick Coon Hounds are known for their loyalty and affection and are devoted to their human families, forming strong bonds with their owners."

Major is such a dog and yet he is slated for euthanasia. His crime? Overprotectiveness over HIS children. No stranger is allowed near them. His guardians have not and will not teach him how to curb his self imposed job. So now they are tired of his behavior and he has to go. It is in a hound’s DNA to be protective. Major just takes his role a bit more seriously and for that he will loose his life if I cannot find the right home for him.

I have personally visited and evaluated Major. He is such a good dog. He is mellow, well mannered, gentle, loving. He is fabulous with his family, humans and pets (cats & dogs) alike. He loves walking with his family, lying with them, hugging them. He is just as happy to lay on his own bed and just being near them. He is not a pushy dog. He is not a boisterous dog. He’s a little shy. He obeys quickly. He is a quiet dog. Well, OK, he bays like a hound, but he is a quiet dog…. You know what I mean. Major wants a quiet life by his person's side.

I am looking for a ‘hound’ experienced family. I am looking for an adult family. I am looking for a family that lives a quiet life that he can just be a dog with. Ideally speaking, someone that hones his training in manners and confidence, enjoys walking, hiking, or even canoeing, spending time in their yard, playing, gardening, whatever… and gives him a well rounded, loving life.

He is such a good boy. He doesn’t deserve this fate. Major is 3 years old, neutered, up to date on shots, crate trained, leash trained, house trained.

If you think you are the right person/family for him, please contact me at SilverRescue@gmail.com for more information and an application.
