Maisy's Story

Meet Maisy!

Maisy is a 5-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as her paws! She came to us as a stray from Sumpter, severely underweight and clearly having been through some hard times. But those days are long behind her—thanks to dedicated foster care, good food, and lots of love, Maisy has fully transformed into a thriving, happy companion.

Maisy has blossomed in her foster home and is learning what it truly means to be a beloved house pet. She’s fully potty trained in a home environment, has excellent indoor manners, and is soaking up all the comforts of family life. She’s also currently being fostered with a cat and has done well with her feline roommate!

Far from the shy girl she once was, Maisy has become a complete social butterfly. She greets her favorite humans with full-body wiggles, loves being near her people, and is always ready for affection. Stuffy toys (even the short-lived ones), snacks, and laid-back hangouts are still some of her favorite things.

Maisy prefers a mellow lifestyle—she’s content exploring the yard, lounging inside, or gently investigating new things at her own pace. She continues to show interest in engaging with the world, and with the right family, we believe she’ll keep building confidence and discovering her playful side.

When it comes to other dogs, Maisy can be a bit selective, but with slow, proper introductions, she has the potential to be a great sibling to a calm, compatible dog. She has also done well in calm playgroups, largely keeping to herself. As for cats, she’s already proven she can coexist peacefully.

Maisy would do well in a moderately active, patient home—possibly with older kids—where she can feel secure, loved, and supported. She’s come so far already, and it’s clear she’s ready to continue that journey with her forever family.

If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful, social girl who’s blossomed beautifully in foster care, Maisy just might be your perfect match.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you would like to meet Maisy, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care she has received.

**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth.
Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
