Maisie's Story
Meet Maisie! (case #21204)

Sweet Maisie may have arrived as an unclaimed stray, but she’s quickly showing us just how special she is. This petite bully mix is approximately 7 years old, and while she may have a few little scars on her head that hint at a past we don’t know, Maisie is ready to leave that chapter behind and start one filled with love.

When Maisie first arrived, she was understandably a little timid in her kennel. But once she realized she was safe, her true personality began to shine. She is a friendly, affectionate girl who absolutely adores people. She has a calm enthusiasm when greeting new friends, and one male officer she met quickly became a favorite. Maisie happily climbed onto his knee, relaxed her whole body, and covered his face with kisses while enjoying his affection.

Maisie has spent some time in a foster home where we have learned a bit more about her. She is good with older kids, knows lots of fun tricks, and is not destructive in the home. She does not enjoy being crated and pulls on leash. Due to her high prey drive and fixation on other dogs, she would do best as the only pet in the home for now.

Although Maisie isn't a young pup anymore, she still deserves and would enjoy daily walks, playtime, sniffing adventures, and plenty of mental stimulation. She does prefer having company and may whine when left alone, so her future family should be prepared to help her settle into being alone gradually.

Maisie has so much love to give. She’s looking for someone who will see past the scars, give her the patience and security she deserves, and show her what it means to finally have a family of her own.

If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion with a gentle soul and a heart ready to love, Maisie may be your girl.

Please complete an adoption request:

https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions

Maisie has an appointment to be spayed on October 15th. Her adopters must be willing to return her for this surgery which is included in the adoption fee.
Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families.

*Please note: we only adopt within Ontario
