Meet MAISEY

Maisey is absolutely one of the sweetest dogs her foster family has ever met. As far as dog size goes, Maisey is pretty much perfect at around 25lbs. She is a medium height-dog with a small-dog weight, thanks to her long legs! We have no idea what breed of dog Maisey could be? With her long body and thin build, we guess that she could have some Dachshund, Lab, Whippet and who know what else. She has a beautiful short-hair brindle coat.

Maisey is house-broken. She does fine when left at home outside of the crate and does not get into any trouble. She is crate-trained but does not like it. The home best suited for her will be one where the family is home a lot. A privacy /tall fence would be best for Maisey. Because of her thin build, she can easily fit through fences with gaps and can jump very high. She does well on the leash and could live in a home without a fenced yard, only if the family is 100% committed to only allowing her to be out when on a leash. Maisey can run very fast and will chase after squirrels, chipmunks, etc. Maisey does well with children, but she does have a habit of excitedly jumping up to greet people. Her foster family is working to train her not to greet people by jumping up to say “Hi,” but a very small child could accidentally be knocked down.

The foster family’s favorite thing about Maisey is that she is such a sweet and submissive dog. She introduces herself by laying down and rolling over for a belly rub. She also loves to cuddle, and the foster family has never seen a dog work as hard as Maisey does to be as absolutely physically close to you as possible. Her forever home will need to be one where it’s ok for dogs to be on the furniture. Maisey is not a big barker, even when the other 3 dogs in her foster home are barking, she rarely joins them. She does well with other dogs, however, we feel she would thrive best in a home where she is the only dog. She is so desperate for attention and puts herself in laps at every possible chance. When toys are out, she is possessive of them around other dogs. If you have other dogs visiting, toys will need to be put away to prevent any resource guarding.

History: When You Lucky Dog pulled Maisey from a shelter, she was underweight, heartworm positive, and had a broken leg. She’s successfully completed her long healing journey after receiving vaccinations, heartworm treatment, and ortho surgery to fix her leg. She also has been spayed. She is now ready to meet her forever-family. If you think Maisey belongs in your lap (all the time), please fill out an adoption application at http://youluckydogrescue.org/adoption-application

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
