Magpie Justice's Story

Roughly a year old, 10 lbs. Just like a real Magpie, she loves hoarding toys on her bed and playing with/eating bugs. She's never chewed on shoes but if you leave them out they'll end up in her bed too. Dog and cat friendly, though she prefers them her size and may take a little longer to warm up to bigger dogs. She loves cat toys, tiny plushies, food, and treats. I don't anticipate any problems with kids, as long as they are gentle. She's getting better on a leash as we've started to go on walks but she can get spooked by cars or dogs. She always gets the zoomies when we come back home. She's great in the car, I crate her and she doesn't make a peep. She loves snuggling and being on a lap. She would love another dog her size to play with. The one thing we're still working on is potty training. Sometimes even when the door's open she would rather go inside. As long as there's a pee pad she'll use it, but we're working on not needing it.

Backstory: Magpie was rescued by a good Samaritan after being attacked by bigger dogs on the street. Her pelvis was broken in three places. Her latest X-rays (4/23/2026) showed significant healing and she's been cleared for normal activity, though her adopter should be mindful to not let her overdo it.

The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet.
