MEET MAGNUS! STATS: 3 years old, Neutered, German Shepherd, 72 lbs AFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a typical Shepherd! I am moderately active and would benefit from exercise and a structured environment. I am not overly affectionate (yet!) but I will warm up to you as I gain confidence. WHAT I LOVE: I love being in a comfortable, structured environment and feeling “at home.” Since I have a lot of those Shepherd characteristics, I will require someone with prior breed experience that can handle my quirks. That is what makes me “me” after all! KIDS: I have no prior history with kids. OTHER DOGS: I am not super confident around other dogs and am not afraid to show them that I am uncomfortable. If I were to have a dog companion, they would have to be tolerant and patient with me and provide me guidance while allowing me to adjust. I may be best suited as your one and only, but only time and patience will tell. CATS: Unknown HIS MATCH: I need someone with soft hands in dealing with a nervous dog. I respond well to kindness and patience. I need someone with breed experience that will provide me with guidance and structure to support my life’s journey. Socialization and training are essential to my personal growth and success in mitigating my reactivity and lack of confidence. Due to my need for additional socialization with both humans and dogs, I require specialized placement with someone who can provide proof of successful prior German Shepherd ownership and experience. I am not for a first time Shepherd owner. As with all adoptions, positive prior/current vet records are required as well as a meet and greet with any current dogs in the home (if applicable.) SPECIAL NOTE: I am determined to sniff out my forever companion! Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Once you complete the app, a staff member will call you in 1-2 business days once approved to set up a time for you to meet the pet you are interested in. Every adoptable pet is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1-year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention for dogs. All pets are behaviorally and medically evaluated prior to being placed up for adoption. Adoptions are matched based on best placement and require no negative animal history.
