Maggie is a beautiful 3-year-old Plott Hound mix who has come such a long way and is truly starting to shine.
She is a loving, affectionate girl who bonds closely with her people and has recently become even more cuddly in foster. Maggie will happily seek you out for attention and, when invited, will come over for kisses and wrap her paws around you in the sweetest way.
Maggie enjoys spending time outside, soaking up the sun, watching birds, and exploring the yard. She has done well with off-leash time in a secure space and will return to the door when she’s ready to come back inside. She also has a playful side and enjoys chasing sticks and engaging with her people.
She is currently gaining confidence and working on her manners, including leash skills and polite interactions with other dogs. Maggie has done well being around other dogs in a structured environment and would benefit from continued slow, thoughtful introductions.
Maggie is house trained and crate trained, and she settles nicely in her space while still enjoying being part of the household. Petersburg Animal Care & Control's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting from Petersburg Animal Care & Control! We’re so glad you’re considering giving a shelter pet a loving home. We do not charge an adoption fee; however, all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and the cost of the procedure is covered by the adopter. We’re happy to support adopters by coordinating appointments with our low-cost veterinary partners for spay/neuter services and other basic care needs. Adoption Process • We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you get to know the animal. • When you arrive, please sign in and wait to be escorted by a staff member or volunteer before entering the kennel areas. • For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet, our team will bring them to a meet-and-greet area for proper introductions. • After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application. Applications must be approved before we can schedule a meet-and-greet with your family pets. • Meet-and-greets with personal pets are by appointment only, and for safety, two staff members must be present to handle all animals involved. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make each match the best fit possible — both for our animals and their future families.
