Maggie Fawkes's Story

Hi there! Let me introduce myself. My name is Maggie Fawkes. I am a little over 6 months old and all puppy! My life didn’t start out so great. I was homeless, eating whatever I could find to survive. One day I ate something I wasn’t supposed to and started choking. A very nice lady saw me and saved me from dying that day. I am so glad she was in the right place at the right time! I have been learning how to live in a house with my other housemates. Living on the streets, there were no rules. I could do what I wanted when I wanted to. Adjusting to life in a house hasn’t been the easiest, but I’m trying really hard. My foster mom says that I am a good girl, and I am adjusting to life indoors. I am learning lots of new things. For instance, I learned how to ring the bells from my older foster sister so that I can go outside when I want to. I can be a little mischievous too. Sometimes, I ring the bells just to get back outside and run around. I don’t always have to go potty, but don’t tell anyone, it’s our secret. I’m used to going to bathroom whenever and wherever I want. Adjusting to being in the house is hard sometimes, but my foster mom says I am doing better. I’m taking it day by day.

I love to be in your lap and give lots of kisses. I really like lying next to you and taking a nap. I love a warm blanket from the dryer. They feel so good!! Luckily my foster parents warm one up for me at night right before bedtime. I am comfortable in my kennel at night. My foster dad says it helps me sleep and not get into trouble, but as soon as I hear the alarm, I’m ready to be free! I sing the song of my people to help you wake up. I don’t have a snooze button. LOL

I love to eat. I love food so much that my foster parents feed me in my kennel so that I won’t bother my foster sisters while they are eating. My foster mom says I am like the Tasmanian devil when I eat. I can eat so fast that my food gets thrown all over my kennel. Nothing goes to waste though. I find every piece of kibble that I knock out my bowl. My foster mom says a ceramic or metal slow feed bowl helps me to slow down. I chewed the plastic one they gave me. I’m not mean about my food, just excited. My foster dad has taken my bowl away from me to make sure I don’t get angry about it. I just sang my people’s song, and he gave it back to me.

I love to give kisses and spend time with you since I am so thankful that I was saved. I love having another fur-sibling to play with. I am a rambunctious puppy. I love to play and run around. It would be nice to have someone who does not mind my energy. I do like to steal toys since I have never had any! My bed is full of toys. What fun is it if they stay in the toy box? I love all the toys, but I especially love to play with the soft Chuck It - Glow in the Dark balls. They are soft so I can chew on them and throw them myself. I love to go out in the yard and chase the grasshoppers and June bugs at night. I’m so proud when I catch one! They are so much fun that I try to bring them inside to play with later. I think my foster parents don’t like the trophies I bring in though. I don’t know why. I’m just having fun.

I love my foster parents and my foster sisters, but I’m ready to find a forever home where I can spend the rest of my life loving and playing with my new family. I will be fully vaccinated and "fixed", whatever that means, before I go to my new family. I can't wait!
