Maggie's Story

Maggie is a 7-year-old German Shepherd/Wire-Haired Terrier mix who is starting over through no fault of her own. After spending years in a home, she has found herself back in the shelter and is ready for a fresh start with a family to call her own again.

This big, beautiful girl recently enjoyed a full groom--and she handled it wonderfully! While she's doing her best in the kennel, Maggie is more than ready to leave her small space behind and get back to the comfort of a real home.

Maggie is incredibly friendly and loves everyone she meets. She previously lived with children and did well, and she's known to be a loyal companion. She does have a protective side and will alert you when someone comes to the door, showing her natural instinct to watch over her home.

She would benefit from some basic obedience training to help her with boundaries and recall, but there's nothing major--just a little guidance to help her be her best self. Maggie has lived successfully with a small dog in the past and did great, but as with any dog, meet-and-greets are highly recommended to ensure a good fit.

With her big heart and loving personality, Maggie is truly a special dog who deserves a second chance. She's ready to leave shelter life behind and find a family who will give her the stability and love she's been missing. An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00
